However, over the last 12 years we have seen a major shift away from that paradigm in that they now no longer care!

In Dan Brown’s thriller "Angels and Demons, Harvard "symbologist" Robert Langdon, played in the 2009 film by Tom Hanks, races against time to stop a secret religious order, the Illuminati, from destroying Vatican City. Part of the race includes getting access on ancient documents stored in secret archives in the Vatican basements complete with bullet proof glass and steel elevators. In truth the Vatican archives are actually today housed in a fortress-like wing of the Vatican behind St Peter’s Basilica, with the avenue leading to the building watched over by a phalanx of Swiss Guards in ceremonial uniform and officers from the city state’s own police force, the Gendarmerie. There are more than 52 miles of shelving in an underground, concrete- walled bunker, as well as exquisite 16th century wooden cabinets packed with priceless parchment letters sent by princes, potentates, heretics and heathens to the Holy See. Their exoteric symbols are abundantly displayed and some of their history is even explained. Why are those societies exposing themselves to the average movie goers, who, for the most part aren’t even aware of their existence? Isn’t secrecy an important requisite for the survival of those orders? The truth is that occult orders have adapted their strategy to this new context. The strategy is: “If they… Read more…
